When most people think of shooting photography in Denver, CO they think of the outdoors.  Sure, there are plenty of mountains with epic trails, aspen trees and gorgeous state parks, but Denver also has some amazing indoor creative spaces.  If you’re booking a commercial shoot, a portrait session or even shooting e-commerce, and the weather isn’t cooperating you may need to opt for one of these beautiful indoor locations.

When I personally book a rental studio I base my decision on location, lighting, amenities and price. Before scrambling and searching “photo studios near me” on Google, check out the list below of the 5 best photo studios Denver, CO has to offer.

1. Studio Ten6

If you’re looking for a high end photo studio in Denver, there’s a new studio that opened in 2022 called Studio Ten6.  I am personally very excited about this studio since my first favorite Gasmoney Studios closed it’s doors (Here is some of my studio work at Gasmoney).  Studio Ten6 has everything you would need as a photographer and the owners Austin and Sean have done a phenomenal job of curating a community of creators and it’s been amazing to watch them grow.

Studio Ten6 is a fully outfitted, loft-style photo studio and creative space located in the RiNo neighborhood of Denver.

Location:

3047 Larimer St. Unit 106 Denver, CO 80205

Amenities:

  • 16’W x 14’H x 14’D natural light cyc wall

  • natural light curtain lounge (14’W x 14’H)

  • v-flats, c-stands, sand bags, apple boxes

  • full kitchen, outdoor area

Best Light:

The studio is located on the west side of Larimer St. which allows for good bounce light through the day. Early mornings are best for a well lit cyc-wall and in the early afternoons are when the light is softer. 1pm-5pm seem to be the best hours for all around good light.

Pricing:

2-hour minimum starting at $100/HR with a 2 hour minimum.  You can find more about about the studio and bookings here.

Approximately 8 minutes from Downtown Denver, Realm Studios calls itself “an open and intimate photo studio and event venue flooded with natural light, featuring a coffee cafe by Amethyst Coffee Co.”

Location:

Realm really means it when they say that this space was thoughtfully designed for ideas and relationships.  The space sits a little East of Denver’s RiNo neighborhood and acts as a photo studio, event venue, meeting space and cafe.  When you walk inside and tour the space you immediately get the sense that every corner was carefully curated with good design and a soft color pallet in mind. Their address is 3851 Steele St. Suite 1393, Denver, CO 80205.

Amenities:

  • oversized corner cyc wall and 1500 sq ft. of additional white wall space with 18’ ceilings

  • vintage furniture

  • private kitchenette, cafe (!) and lounge area

  • c-stands, steamers, sandbags, paper roll, stools / ladders, extension chords, light diffusers

  • wifi, bathrooms and parking

Best Light:

Talking with EB one of the owners, the best light in the studio for all year round is approximately 10am - 2pm with longer summer light.  In the Summer months 9am - 3pm could even apply.

Pricing:

Realm also requires a 2 hour minimum starting $100/HR on weekdays and $150/HR on the weekends.  You can find more about the studio and event space here.

3. Photospace

Next on our list of the best photo studios Denver has to offer is the full package and Photospace Denver.

Photospace Denver is a hidden gym.  Providing high-end studio space, medium format system rentals, strobes, continuous lighting, video and audio gear, digital tech stations and even vans…yes an automobile.

The first thing that popped out to me when I learned about Photospace was the amount of equipment, gear and services they provide.  The rent brands such as Profoto, Hasselblad, Phaseone, Black Magic and almost any camera manufacturer you could imagine.  They also provide retouching and camera cleaning services.  If you knew what you were doing, you could rent this space with nothing but yourself and a team and walk out with a fully produced shoot.

Location:

South of Coors Field near Denver Baker neighborhood Photospace includes 2500 sq ft. of photography / video rental space with a 20’ w x 17’ deep x 15’ high cyc wall with a ton of add ons. Their address is 209 Kalamath St. Unit 1, Denver, CO 80223

Amenities:

Their amenities list goes into way more depth than I will cover here but to cover the basics for a photographer they include the below:

  • cyc wall (20’ wide x 17’ deep x 15’ high)

  • multiple backdrops including a 24’ x 12’ chroma-key backdrop

  • grip equipment such as booms, stands, clamps, tripods, flags, v-flats

  • wifi, kitchen, bathrooms, client lounge

  • tether capture station: CaptureOne, Phocus, Photoshop, Lightroom

Best Light:

There are windows that come across the cyc wall from left to right as well as large double doors. The best light for this space is early afternoon/afternoon.

Pricing:

Photospace rates start at $85/HR with a 2 hour minimum for both weekday and weekends and a $400 rate for half days up to 5 hours.

4. C2 Studios

C2 Studios is located just north of Coors Field and houses one of the largest cyc walls you will come across in Denver.  The 12’ deep 36’ wide cyc wall makes this space perfect for commercial automobile shoots and even has an accessible loading dock and ramped garage door.

Location:

If you take the virtual tour here you really get a sense of how large this space is and why you may book the space for productions where a smaller space just won’t do. Their address is 3819 Inca St. b, Denver, CO 80211

Amenities:

  • 36’ cyc wall with cove

  • moveable walls, conference table, lounge furniture, folding chairs, c-stands, apple boxes, sandbags, steamer

  • full kitchen as well as hair and makeup station

  • art directors loft which is good for taking phone calls or finishing up some office work

  • wifi / bathrooms

Best Light:

From the looks of their website the most natural light you would get for the cyc wall would be the eastern facing garage wall.  If you plan on using natural light it would be best to shoot at sunrise (7am or so) or bring a set of strobes.

Pricing:

C2 Studios rates start at $500 for a half day (up to 5 hours) or $700 for a full day (up to 10 hours).  You can find out more about the studio space and their rates here.
